More health facilities to use HRIS at CSSC Southern zone

The rolling up of the Human resource information system (HRIS) to some of the faith based organization (FBO)’s health facilities has increased high demand of the system need to more CSSC facilities. The HRIS connected facilities have improved data storage and analysis, and now are using quality data for planning and budgeting, hospital’s administrators are able to access easier information of their staff and prepare a report with correct data.

Mbalizi hospital is one among of 3 hospitals of CSSC at Southern zone which is connected to HRIS, together with Ilembula and Tosamaganga hospital. The implementation of the system at Mbalizi hospital has helped its management to know exactly the status of human resource based on professional cadres. Mr. Goodluck Nazlon is the  hospital administrator says that before HRIS it was difficult to get data of staff and took  30 to 40 minutes searching for staff information in manual system, sometimes the available information were incorrect, therefore the electronic system (HRIS) has fastened the access of quality information.

In addition, Mr. Goodluck indicates that after data being entered to the system by data clerk, he used to verify them by removing minor errors to match with required quality.  He either further says that, a system is user friendly and can easily generate report easily compared to manual system. “Before awareness and demonstration of the system, I knew nothing about HRIS, after being sensitized I still doubted if we could manage, but after training I understood, it is simple system” Mr. Goodluck stresses

Before installation of HRIS at Mbalizi hospital, CSSC organized training of 3 staffs, whereby 2 data clerks and hospital administrator were trained on how to use it. The use of the system at these hospitals has influenced other facilities within the zone to look for possibility of rolling up. Mbalizi hospital is a district designed hospital for Mbeya rural. It’s a member institution of Christian Social Services Commission (CSSC) in Southern zone. Under Human resource Project CSSC supports BAKWATA and APHFTA to implement the Project.
