CSSC Executive Director visits St. Bakhita Health Institution Project

Christian Social Services Commission (CSSC) is one among the sub- recipients of Global Fund R9 Grant through the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. It has received Global Fund R9 Grant supports towards the cost of the health system strengthening which is focusing on increase Production of Health Care Workers in Tanzania. CSSC applied the proceeds of this Grant for construction, rehabilitation and extension of various buildings for enhancement of health workers for the Faith Based Organization.

St. Bakhita Health Institution is one of the beneficiaries of the project, where the construction of various buildings is being undertaken to enable large enrolment of students within institution. The scope of this project includes construction of 3 wings dormitory blocks  to accommodate 576 students, 3 semi detached houses, 2 classroom blocks to accommodate 400 students, 2 wards to accommodate 69 patients, conversion of  existing classrooms into ICT library, skilled laboratory, Teaching laboratory and office.  

Between July 3-7, 2013 CSSC Executive Director Mr. Peter Maduki made physical visit to see progress of the construction. He visited all buildings which are under construction. During a prior meeting, he was notified by the contractor that, the construction is almost 85% done and it is expected to be finished soon and handled over on October 2013. Areas visited were classrooms, dormitories, Tutors houses and skilled laboratory. He also visited St. Bakhita District Designated Hospital which is located at the same area. Within hospital, he witnessed the rehabilitation of the Labour ward and services provided by hospital.

In his remarks, Mr. Maduki impressed with the quality of the work that it meets standards, however, he emphasized the contractor to speed up so that to enable work finished.The achievements noted to date, quality of works still being maintained and collaboration with Nkasi district team has been strongly reinforced.

In his visits, Executive Director was accompanied by the CSSC Director of Programs Dr. Josephine Balati, CSSC Southern Zone Manager Mr. Sylvester Udope and Acting CSSC Public Relation Officer Renatus Sona 

The St. Bakhita Health Institution project is financed by Global fund through Ministry of Health and Social Walfare under Public Private Partnership (PPP), CSSC is taking part of construction supervision. It is located at Namanyere village, Nkasi district in Rukwa region. The Institution covers St. Bakhita DDH hospital, both are owned by Roman Catholic Diocese of Sumbawanga.
