Development of AfyaPro system to health facilities in Lake Zone

It is obvious that data is important in any interventions undertaken, without proper data, there is limited data analysis which affects the quality of decisions made. For example, in the health sector without proper data keeping, the hospital fails to accurately supervise and account for all the revenue collected. Furthermore, a data driven facility is more responsive to the end users, more accurate in its interventions, more accountable and fosters a learning environment that would promote the analysis of data closer to the points of data generation

Afya Connect (4) Change Lake Zone (AfyaC4C) is a Tanzanian non-governmental organization supported by Dutch based organization known as International Institute of Communication and Development (IICD) to enable ICT for health. AfyaC4C has invested in technologies for ICT in health solutions to increase performance and help to build sustainable institutions to better deliver health services to the community. The project aims at enabling the facilities to obtain accurate and timely data through the use of AfyaPro software (system) that will affect the quality of decisions to be made. The connected health facilities are able to accurately supervise and account for all the revenue collected.

More than 14 health facilities in Lake Zone are using AfyaPro system, some of these facilities include; Nyakahanga, Bukumbi, Mugana, Sumve, Songambele and Sengerema hospital. Others are Nyakato and Makongoro health centre and Nyakahoja, Bulima and Imani dispensary.

The system has helped these facilities to improve the ability of collecting, store and analyzing accurate health data. In addition it has increased the efficiency and effectiveness of health services, increased accountability and improved tracing health trends in the facility.
