Christian Social Services Commission Executive Director Mr Peter Maduki, is among 15 members who form a team to investigate the massive failure in the 2012 Form Four National Examinations results.

The team was appointed by the Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda expected to work for six weeks to deliver in which it will investigate the disastrous fall of the O’Level examinations for the past three years running.

 The panel to be chaired by the Executive Secretary for the Tanzania Commission for University (TCU), Professor Sifuni Mchome, backed by education experts and politicians.

Other members in the list include the NCCR-Mageuzi national Chairman James Mbatia, Kizito Lawa, Mabrouk Makame, Abdallah Hemed, Suleiman Hemed, Nurdin Mohamed, Rajan Rakheshi, Mahamoud Mringo, Daina Matemu, Honorath Chitanda, Mwajabu Possi, Abdul Jabiri and Benardetha Mshashu.

With the background as secondary school teacher, Maduki appreciated that the government \ recognises the contribution of Faith Based Organisations is the provision of social services especially education and health.

“Being a member of the team shows that the Public Private Partnership policy is implemented” said Maduki.

Some of the terms of reference, that is an assessment of the level of teaching and learning environment and to determine the examination evaluation system. The probe team will visit some of the best and poor performing schools including government, private academies as well as seminaries – where it will also interview some of the students.

An in-depth probe into the matter will prevent results from getting worse in the future, hence fuelling more blames on the government as an outcome.

Last year’s national Form Four exams were particularly worrisome: of the 397, 132 students who sat for the Form Four national examinations only 156, 229 students (34. 5 per cent) passed, and the remaining 240,903 (65.5 per cent) flopped.
