20 ICT experts trained on AfyaPro system implementation

Afya Connect (4) Change Lake Zone (C4C) together with the International Institute of Communication and Development (IICD) a Dutch based organization conducted a ten days training of Health Management Information System (HMIS) for AfyaPro implementers, aiming at developing a community of implementers in Africa that is capable to work on Afya Pro and implement the system through a participatory way in the health facilities. The training held recently in Mwanza whereby ICT experts including AfyaPro implementers from Malawi, Zimbabwe and Tanzania attended.

Speaking during the training, IICD Country Manager of Tanzania and Zimbabwe Dr. Nic Moens said the training meant for participants to share knowledge on HMIS implementation and change management. In Lake Zone, more than 14 health facilities were computerized with AfyaPro system and the demand is still high for other facilities to be taken on board.

However, 20 people were capacitated the appropriate skills for project planning (implementation plan), implementing and monitoring, focused on HMIS projects. The Afya C4C Lake Zone Manager, Deogratias Katonyella insisted that training was termed as a platform of having a professional attitude of serving the client in the best way and assisting them in realizing change and institutionalizing the change. After the training, each participant was awarded a Certificate of attendance.
